Chili Rubbed Sirloin Steak With Seasoned Shoestring Fries

Sirloin steak rubbed with chili powder, garlic salt, red pepper, and cumin. Broiled, cut thin and served with shoestring potatoes.
Ingredients -
2 teaspoons Chili Powder
1 teaspoon Garlic Salt
1/4 teaspoon Ground Red Pepper
1/4 teaspoon Ground Cumin
1 pound Frozen Shoestring Potatoes
5 tablespoons Vegetable Oil
3 Scallions, trimmed, thinly sliced
1-1/2 pounds Boneless Sirloin Steak
 
Preparation:

1. Preheat oven to 350 F.

2. Combine chili powder, garlic salt, red pepper, and cumin in small bowl.

3. Toss shoestring potatoes with 3 tablespoons vegetable oil, 2 teaspoons spice mixture in small bowl.

4. Place potatoes on baking sheet.

5. Place on baking sheet. Cook potatoes 12 minutes. Remove from oven. Turn oven to broil.

6. Brush both sides of meat with remaining vegetable oil. Rub remaining spice mixture over sirloin.

7. Place sirloin on baking sheet. Broil 5 minutes. Turn and broil 5 more minutes.

8. Remove meat from broiler, let stand 5 minutes. Place potatoes under broiler 4 minutes or until brown and crispy.

9. Thinly slice meat on angle. Serve with seasoned shoestring fries.

Ground red pepper ia alco commonly referred to as Cayenne pepper.

Sugar rich bastes and glazes burn easily. Brush on during the last few minutes to add flavor and avoid charring.
